Why Iskoras Foundation has been established
To provide businesses with the opportunity to purchase top-quality climate credits with local co-benefits where the credits are produced. To serve as a link in the value chain that contributes substantially to removing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. To develop projects, initiatives, and climate products of a standard that motivates the market to choose these qualities.
…because these qualities protect the planet, thereby supporting the customer’s reputation and license to operate.
Why a Foundation?
Iskoras is a non-profit foundation, meaning all resources go directly toward delivering value to our clients and achieving our mission—no distractions, no profit-driven decisions. Under Norwegian law, foundations are strictly regulated to ensure that their purpose and resources are protected. This provides an added layer of security and guarantees that funds are managed responsibly and in line with the foundation’s mission.
The inspiration behind the name Iskoras
Iskoras is the name of a mountain far north in Karasjok community in Norway. In this area permafrost is beginning to thaw due to climate change, with the potential of releasing significant amounts of methane and CO2 into the atmosphere. This area has been part of research projects for years to understand what to expect as the world’s real extensive permafrost regions begin to thaw. In this sense, the mountain Iskoras plays a “canary in the coal mine” role, signaling what’s to come.
